Even though he is wielding the legendary Golden Axe, Tyris is victorious and saves the king and his daughter. Tyris fights her way through the land of Yuria to the castle of Death Adder.
The first Golden Axe (1989) begins with the 23-year-old Tyris and her friends Ax Battler and Gilius Thunderhead find their mortally wound friend Alex, who tells them that the king and the princess have been taken by Death Adder and asks to avenge him before passing away. She has sworn by all that is sacred to her people that she will avenge their deaths by defeating Death Adder and liberating the land of Yuria. She has nothing more to live for - her people were all put to the sword by Death Adder's evil minions and the jungle was razed to the ground. There, Tyris is said to be an amazon warrior queen and the last surviving member of her jungle tribe.
In the computer versions of the first game, her story was altered. Tyris was then adopted by the amazons who trained her in the arts of swordsmanship and fire magic. After momentarily evading Death Adder's army, her mother told her to remain hidden deep within the canyons no matter what happens just moments before one of Death Adder's minion suddenly appeared and killed her. After her father was slain by Death Adder, her mother escaped with her to the canyons. Her father and the kingdom's army tried to fight them off, only to be defeated.

One fateful day, on her 17th birthday (fourth in the PC Engine version), an evil army led by the giant Death Adder invaded her kingdom. In the early Golden Axe beat 'em up games, Tyris Flare is a former princess of the Firewood Kingdom, where she lived happily with her parents, the king and the queen. Unbeknownst to us, our host/hostess made a GIANT Minion Pinata, which was homemade out of chicken wire and construction foam.Appearances In the Golden Axe games I wore black leggins and boots and we both wore black leather gloves. We then added black pipe cleaners at various lengths for the “hair”. I downloaded the Minion logo, made a stencil and used black permanent marker to paint same onto the front of both Chris’ shirt and my skirt bib.įor the “eyes”, I purchased two PVC end caps and super glued small bolts to them, spray painted them metallic silver, added a large “googly” eye inside and attached those to the hard hats w/wide black elastic. Since Chris is a Lineman, he had access to yellow hard hats and turns out they were much easier to attach the hair and eyes to anyway. Also, we couldn’t find bright yellow beanie hats so I tried to dye white beanies to match the white shirts we dyed but the fabric on the hats was too pourous and they came out pale yellow. WHAT…no bib overalls in 2013!! So, Chris opted to wear black suspenders with his blue jeans and I found a pair of overall shorts that I converted to a bib skirt. We started off by looking for bib overalls but didn’t have much luck. The costumes were relatively simple to make. Turns out, everyone LOVED the Minions so we went as Minions to both! Chris was already dead set on being a Minion so we decided to go as Minions to the first party and then add “hippy” things to our costumes for the second party. The first being an anything goes costume party and the other a “Woodstock” themed party.
